Procedure Description: Providing an alternative bypass route for fluid drainage from the eye.
What To Expect: Most surgery is done under topical anesthesia with mild sedation as an outpatient procedure.
Preprocedure: Depending
on your medical conditon, you may need bloodwork and EKG done. The
hospital or surgery center will call you with the exact time of the
procedure, when to arrive, and when to begin fasting. It is ok to take
medications with sips of water.
Postprocedure: Patient
may resume light activity after surgery until given further
instructions. Avoid heavy lifting or straining. You will need to sleep
with an eye shield for several weeks.
